English Asparagus

We have a rule that you must overdose on English Asparagus when in season and then not eat for the rest of the year until in season again. Therefore everything we are making at the moment has Asparagus in it from the best local supplier Mike Ashby, grown in the Polebrook Valley, Oundle.
Today we made some fabulous soup with a touch of Tuks' yellow Thai curry sauce and cracked black pepper , with homemade walnut bread just yummy !

Week Two !!!

Well, what can we say - the last week has gone past in a blur - stir fried noodles this, sweet & sour that,  copious amounts of sasupow. Ready meals by the dozen and lots of tasting sessions for those entertaining at home.
On Saturday we entertained the European contingent of Red 2 Green, a fantastic charity that works with people with Asperges based in Cambridge. Adnams (great wine merchants from Southwold, Suffolk)  complimented the afternoon by offering a glass of English sparkling wine. Guests from France, Germany and Italy completed their experience with a tasting of English cheeses - perfecto !

The first day !!

Today was our opening day and we are pleased to say it exceeded all our expectations.
On offer  we had : Duck spring rolls, Chinese Pork dumplings, Dim Sim, king prawn noodle soup and beef stir fry. Along with an assortment of vegetarian options.
At one point with the kitchen full of smoke, Tuk had a beer in one hand and six orders on the go with the other and never lost control !
In amongst Stamford School boys, local business people and the best florist in town, Miss Pickering, we had the most delightful ladies who were visiting the town for the first time. They relaxed , stayed for a while and just enjoyed a series of tastings.
Onwards & upwards.
